In April 2026, the special event themed "The Winning Path for Chinese Enterprises Going Global: Cultural and Legal Strategies" was successfully held. The event was hosted by the Qingdao International Business Association, organized by Allbright Law Qingdao Offices, and supported by the Alumni Association of International Talents of Ocean University of China.  It brought together industry professionals to exchange insights. Global competition has extended beyond market and capital rivalry to an in-depth game revolving around "people" and "rules". The event specially invited Mr. Guido Maune (Mao Yuelin) — a certified cross-cultural coach, factory general manager with rich cross-cultural experience, and former Managing Director of Maersk Container Industry — to deliver a keynote speech entitled “Cross-Cultural Competence”.

      Faced with the complex and volatile international legal environment, David Zhang, Senior Partner at Allbright Law Offices Qingdao, Director of the International Trade and Investment Committee of the Shandong Lawyers Association, and a National Leading Foreign-related Lawyer of China, stressed that compliance serves as a “safety cabin”for enterprises going global. From the perspectives of the backdrop of overseas expansion, transaction structure design, and cross-border compliance risk prevention and control, he analyzed how enterprises can systematically build a legal firewall in outbound investment, mergers and acquisitions, and overseas operations. He particularly noted that compliance development must shift from "passive response" to "proactive embedding", and be integrated throughout the entire process of strategic decision-making and business operations..

      A survey cited during the event indicated that 75% of enterprises have     sufferedlosses in time, capital or reputation due to cultural misunderstandings, and 63% of respondents identified "building trust" as the biggest challenge in cross-border cooperation. In this regard, Guido Maune pointed out that Chinese enterprises going global are transitioning from cost-driven development to technology-driven growth, yet the lack of cultural awareness will hinder the implementation of corporate strategies. With practical case studies, he elaborated that enterprises need to master cultural analysis frameworks, anticipate cognitive differences in overseas projects, and build trust as well as enhance negotiation efficiency in diverse environments through adaptive leadership.

      Focusing on the two core dimensions of cross-cultural competence and legal compliance, the event delivered actionable practical frameworks for participating enterprises from manufacturing, trade, technology and other sectors. Many corporate representatives commented that in global strategic layout, cultural adaptation serves as a soft breakthrough, while legal compliance acts as a rigid safeguard — both are indispensable.As Chinese enterprises advance into the deep-water zone of globalization, localized operation and compliant management have evolved into core competitiveness. Translating cultural insight into management practice and turning legal provisions into institutional advantages has become an essential required course for all enterprises venturing overseas today.
